OREGON CONCEALED CARRY CLASS

The next Intro to Oregon Concealed Carry class will be held Sunday, March 28th, 2010 from 8AM-4PM in Clatskanie, Oregon.

This 8-hour class will meet the handgun safety training requirement for an Oregon Concealed Handgun License per ORS 161; THIS CLASS IS FOR BOTH OREGON RESIDENTS AND NON-RESIDENTS.

ONLY REGISTER FOR ONE SESSION—morning or afternoon.

This 3.5-hour class is taught entirely on our pistol range. Plan on shooting 100 rounds! There are very specific equipment requirements for this class so please read the description carefully. This class does not satisfy the training requirements for an Oregon Concealed Handgun License. Attendees must already have attended our Intro to Oregon CHL class OR possess an Oregon CHL (or WA CPL) and have instructor permission to register . Thus is a fast-paced class that covers the elements of drawing from concealed carry, shooting from cover and shooting while moving.

SHOOTER SKILLS CLINIC (Pistol)

These two-hour sessions are intended for new shooters who want to learn the elements of Action Pistol shooting, and those that wish to improve and build upon existing skills. These clinics start with very basic pistol-handling to teach and improve these primary skills:

Pistol safety Sight alignment

Trigger control Shooting stance

Drawing Rapid reloading

Double-taps Multiple targets

Use of cover Shooting positions

Gear selection

Not all subjects will be covered in each session, but the skills taught in the first few sessions will be built upon and progress to more complex exercises in future clinics.

The clinics will be held monthly basis starting Saturday, November 21st, 2009, and are held outdoors as dynamic, live-fire training sessions.

This is not an Action Pistol Match; this is an excellent opportunity to develop or hone pistol skills to improve safety, confidence and accuracy in a non-competitive environment. Attendees will have the opportunity to fire 50-100 rounds in exercises structured to develop muscle memory and improve focus.

Fee for this clinic is $10; attendees need to bring their pistol, ammunition, spare magazines (or speed loaders if you are shooting a revolver), a safe holster, plus eye & ear protection.

BASIC PISTOL FOR WOMEN

NEXT CLASS PLANNED FOR mid to late January 2010—watch this page for dates!

For women desiring initial training in the safe use of handguns; this class is also intended for women seeking to meet the training requirements set forth in Oregon Revised Statues Section 166 for an Oregon Concealed Handgun License. No previous experience with firearms is required. This session is for women only!

At the conclusion of this training, students should be able to understand the basic safe operation of a revolver and semi-automatic pistol; ammunition requirements, the essentials of marksmanship, firearms storage, care & cleaning. Also included is an introduction to applicable Oregon firearms laws relating to concealed carry, the license application process and how to carry legally, safely and discreetly. The class finishes with a live-fire practice session on the range. This class is taught by NRA-certified pistol instructors.

This class includes a working lunch session; students may either bring a lunch or order from one of the local restaurants (delivery service to classroom provided).

PRIVATE LESSONS—BASIC TO ADVANCED PISTOL, FIREARMS SAFETY, CHL...

Basic handgun safety, intermediate/advanced handgun skills and training for the Oregon Concealed Handgun License are all available as private lessons for those with obligations that do not permit attending the regularly scheduled classes.

We have five NRA-Certified instructors on staff who can work with individuals, couples, or a private group for specialized events and instruction. Please contact Gregg Smith at (360) 606-3478 to discuss your training needs.

OREGON HUNTER SAFETY

Always in demand, the Oregon Hunter Safety Class is a requirement for big game tags in Oregon.

This class is taught by our staff of Oregon Hunter Safety Instructors and is always well-attended.

THE NEXT SCHEDULED HUNTER SAFETY CLASS WILL BE HELD IN MARCH 2010—WATCH THIS PAGE FOR DETAILS!

This is a week long class, 6-8:30PM Monday-Friday, with the practical exam on Saturday morning. You must attend all 5 nights of this class plus pass the written and practical exams to receive your Hunter Safety card.
