ACTION PISTOL MATCH SCHEDULE—2010
Greetings:
As you may already know, I am running the Action Pistol Program for 2010; the economy (and job changes) have caused the loss of several members from the Action Pistol Committee. We ran a small (but fun) .22 Action Pistol program in the Indoor Range this winter, and learned a few things about indoor matches that will be put to good use once the backstop is improved and sound suppression materials are installed.
Highlights of changes I’m making are:
1.NEXT ACTION PISTOL MATCH WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, June 13th (The second Sunday in June). We will try the 2nd Sunday for a few months; this eliminates a conflict with Lone Oak and Shelton events and I hope this increases attendance.
2. Matches will be comprised of SIX (6) stages; bring at least 150 rounds (200 seems more realistic).
3. We will maintain a 48-stage year; that means EIGHT MATCHES this year, April thru November.
4. THERE WILL BE NO TROPHY RACE IN 2010 – an overwhelming number of shooters opted to shoot Fun instead of Trophy in matches last year (including a large number of past overall winners); I will give the OVERALL MATCH WINNER a chit good for $5 off their next match… I may go to CRPC Action Pistol logo cups with ‘overall match winner’ on them for subsequent months, but haven’t decided yet (gives you trophy hounds a chance to get a matching set of 4 or more if you’re really good…). Action Class gear will not be eligible for overall winner, and Street and Revolver categories will compete together.
5. We’ll still leave the Major/Minor power floor at the lowly 9mm level (even though most 9’s won’t even make it in a true chronograph match).
6. START TIME FOR THE JUNE MATCH WILL BE 10AM – that means show up at 9:00 and help set up; R/O meeting at 9:00, registration at 9:20, safety briefing at 9:45, first rounds downrange at 10AM! Show up at 9 and help with setup—it gets the match moving along...
7. Traditional shoots will still be considered (Steel Challenge, BUG match, Night match) but may occur at different months than in the past.
8. We will try to limit the matches to the Pistol Bays to minimize impact on public access to the Rifle Range… yes, I know everyone wants to shoot Escape From Cracktown (including me) and I wouldn’t want to eliminate that carrot…
9. ALL SHOOTERS ARE REQUIRED to help set up, tape, brass and tear down stages; per CRPC policy, serving members of the Executive committee (and ROs working the match that day) may ‘shoot through’ stages, as they have other duties.
10. The first matches will have some familiar stages from the past (standards stuffs… El Presidente, Bill Drill, etc.) plus at least one surprise stage; it we get too many shooters (gee, what’s too many shooters?) we will have a squadding plan so the R/Os need to be ready for this possibility (makes a pre-match RO meeting even more important).
11. Last (but not least) MATCH FEES WILL INCREASE TO $20 FOR MEMBERS, $25 FOR NON-MEMBERS… think it through… you were paying $15 as a members for 4 stages, $30 for 8 stages when we have ‘double matches’… this represents about an 11% DECREASE in what you paid per stage over last year.
GET THE WORD OUT TO PISTOL SHOOTERS! LET’S HAVE SOME FUN IN 2010.
